Yes, Plz 4th of July Hacks

July 2, 2018

/ dessertuncategorized

One of the main reasons I started blogging is because I like finding a real life, easy, attainable approach to life and I like sharing it with others. It’s kinda like my own little Riley Hacks. See I once was trying to make some ‘Healthy Cookies’ and the recipe called for so many ingredients that I had never even heard of! Even after an (expensive) trip to Whole Foods, I still didn’t have everything I needed.

I gave up & swore I would blog healthy(ish) recipes, easy ways to approach life and just little ways to make each day happier!

Well, when the holidays roll around I feel my little Riley Hacks are even more important. Holidays can be expensive! If I can save money, time or sanity- I’m all for it! Today, I’m sharing a few ways you can make your Fourth of July a little easier!

Mason Jar Shortcake

This is similar to my Store Bought Cake Hacks, only a few things from the grocery and you have these adorable, individual berry shortcakes!

What you need:

-Mason Jars (Size of your choice!)

-Angel Food Cake or Pound Cake, I go with pre-made to save time

-Strawberries

-Blueberries

-Cool Whip

To assemble: Crumble a few large pieces in the bottom of your mason jar, next place a few spoonfuls of diced strawberries and blueberries. Finally, top with a few dollops of cool whip! Depending on the size of your jars, you could make it like a parfait and continue with the layers. If you want to really jazz it up, you could tie plasticware to the lid with Fourth of July colored ribbon. Place in your fridge until it’s time to celebrate, throw in your cooler and you’re ready to go.

I like to get multiuse out of my groceries, so I also grabbed some bananas and whipped up this Patriotic Fruit Salad! If you are making this ahead of time, brush a little lemon juice on your bananas to keep them from turning brown. You could also use cute cupcake toppers like these American Flag toothpicks to make fruit kabobs that are red, white and blue!

Thanks so much for stopping by! If you are looking for the perfect last minute Fourth of July cocktail recipe, look no further! This mimosas recipe is the bomb, literally! I hope you enjoy your holiday, be sure to follow along on Instagram (@RileySitton) for more healthy + happy living, simplified. XO

Soaking up everyday is easy with this sweet boy. He’s pretty much all smiles as long as the attention is all on him. He really loves eating, babies and Doodle. He’s scooting and already trying to get into everything. Lucky for us, so far he pretty much just goes in circles. His first tooth popped through and he has a little bit of very blonde hair. ⁣

Speaking of being frozen.. supposed to go to Memphis Monday but an ice/snow storm is coming?! So we either have to leave tomorrow or wait 😭 which interferes with the GF fried bologna biscuits I was surprising RJ with Sunday morning. 😂 #HomeSweetSitton
