It’s been a while since we had a new Weekender’s Guide, and it will probably be a good bit before the next one (since I’m almost 30 weeks pregnant and COVID is making travel difficult). No worries though! My goal for the rest of 2020 is to create in-depth seasonal Weekender’s Guide to Chattanooga and maybe even one or two to Memphis, since I grew up there. Anyway, today we’re chatting about a great beach getaway in one of our favorite US cities – a Weekender’s Guide to Folly Beach, South Carolina.

This little beach town is located just 20 minutes from downtown Charleston. One of our favorite cities in America. RJ and I always say that we could absolutely see us living in Charleston if we moved away from Chattanooga. It’s so delightful. Full of history, culture, beautiful scenery and the most delicious food. Staying in Folly Beach means you get the best of both worlds – an adorable, relaxing beach vacation and a fun, historic experience in Charleston. Today’s post is focuising on Folly Beach, however if you do travel here – definitely make some time for a trip into the city!

This is actually our third trip to Folly Beach. Twice with RJ and once for a bachelorette party. I enjoyed both types of trips, proving Folly has a lot ot offer! When you arrive, there is a main little downtown area. It’s full of live, restaurants and fun bars. Tons of live music, delicious food and dog-friendly beaches right at your fingertips. It makes a great place for a romantic getaway, but was also so much fun for a bachelorette trip as you can access everything within walking distance.
A few of our Folly Beach favorites to check out:
Tides Hotel and Blue Oceanfront Restaurant.
This is where RJ and I have stayed during both visits. It’s beachfront, dog friendly and very accomadating. We love having dinner at Blu, the oceanfront restaurant and then grabbing dessert to-go to enjoy on the beach.
Taco Boy
Absolutely delicious Mexican food + a fun, welcoming enviroment.
Rita’s Seaside Grille
Another great restaurant that often has a live band. The food and atmosphere are incredible.
I recently did a Q&A on my Instagram (@RileySitton) all about our recent trip, showed some video of our hotel room and a peek at why we love Folly Beach. If this destination isn’t on your must-see list, you definitely should add it! Any other questions? Let me know in the comments below!

Where did you get the pineapple with ice cream? Reminds me of a dole whip!
It was SO yummy! There was a little street vendor/cart on the main strip of Folly that was selling them. It was over by Taco Boy!
