Transitioning Your LWD (Little White Dress) from Summer to Fall: 3 Ways

Stocking up on little white dresses is definitely a problem for me. They’re my favorite thing to buy! The simplicity, the versatility, the classic-ness. Everyone says they’re the first to go once Labor Day rolls around but I disagree! Breaking the rules is all the fun, especially when you can look this cute ladies!

Last week, I headed out to date night with Babe and wanted something simple yet pulled together to throw on because I wasn’t sure where we would end up eating (we can never, ever decide). When I peaked in my closet for an outfit, I was excited to see all my white dresses ready to be transitioned to Fall. Something about the crisp white just makes me so happy, they are so beautiful paired with other Fall neutrals. I thought this would be the perfect transitioning post to share with you babes!

Our date nights have seriously become so boring since we’re getting so close to the wedding. If I have any free time at all, I feel like it should be spent working on wedding prep. All I can think is we only have 68 more days until our honeymoon! That’s right, I’ve officially ditched the wedding countdown for our honeymoon countdown. But what can I say I’m pretty pumped about our honeymoon destination! It only took us forever to decide, we changed our minds 4 times.

If you ask Babe which Date Night he prefers, I bet he would choose arguing where to have dinner over taking blog pictures every time haha! He likes to pretend he doesn’t like it but he totally does, plus he’s pretty good! #TotalInstagramHubby

Living in the South, we can be experiencing 80 degree temps deep into October (sometimes even November!), it’s nuts here. I love to dress for the season though and not the weather. With a few tricks, you can be rocking this seasons trends without dripping in sweat.

— Pair opposites. If you’re wearing something ‘Summer-y’ (like my cold shoulder dress), pair it with heavier ‘Fall’ pieces (like closed toe booties and a thick, tortoise necklace). Opposites attract to create balance. If you were wearing too many late Fall pieces or too many Summer pieces, you wouldn’t look in season or weather appropriate. Leave that for the true season, not transition time.

–Think accessories. This is the perfect time to rock all your new fall accessories. The LWD is the perfect blank canvas! A few trends I’m loving this year are fringe, military detailing, chokers, animal print, velvet and hats.

–Lace sleeves. A lace sleeve tunic that doubles as a dress is the perfect transitioning piece. Since the sleeves are long, it feels very Fall but since they’re lace it’s perfect for those warm Fall nights. Once temps start to drop you can pair this beauty with faux leather leggings and even an adorable faux fur vest! Keep it chic with an all black and white look or mix it up with pops of jewel tones.

Do you have any other pieces in your closet you love to transition?! Be sure to follow me on Instagram for scenes in between and to see how I transition other pieces (@YesPleaseDaily). I’m so excited to share all the details from our couple’s shower tomorrow for #WeddingWednesday!
