This past weekend was my [first born] Gunner’s 3rd birthday… queue the tears.. Gunner is my Chocolate lab that my husband and I got the week we closed on our house. It was a “we don’t have any cable and are tired of staring at each other so lets get a puppy” decision and has been the best decision we’ve ever made.
Gunner is literally the most sensitive dog I have ever met, so when I woke up the morning of his birthday and realized that my pregnancy brain made me forget his birthday I immediately busted out in tears because I knew he would be so disappointed if I didn’t have a party planned [crazy dog mom #guilty]
Luckily, I had one of Riley’s go to recipes for dog friendly cakes, but being that I had forgotten and been caught off guard I opted to use a portion of her recipe and play around with the a few other ideas with items I already had at home.
That is when this Peanut Butter Pup Cup was born. This recipe is so easy and is great for summer days because you can actually freeze it and make Pupcicles to cool down your furry babes… plus it is actually delicious… I was fighting the pups over licking the spoon myself.
I ran to the store, grabbed a candle and a few birthday hats to finish off his impromptu party and Gunner thought I had it planned all along. He was the happiest 3 year old pup Ive ever seen.
Pup Cup Recipe:
- 2 cups of Cool Whip
- 1 container of Creamy Peanut Butter
- 1 Table Spoon of Coconut Oil
Grind up some Milk Bones to add a yummy dusting to your pup cups or mix into the mixture before freezing if making Pupcicles.
