Spring is right around the corner and it seems the Spring cleaning bug has bitten me yet again! I tend to be a little more aggressive than just cleaning though, Spring rolls around and I’m ready for a full home makeover! RJ blames my dollhouse for unrealistic rearranging expectations, but to be fair we’ve never technically done anything in our bedroom since moving. So a Modern Farmhouse Master Bedroom Makeover is at the top of my to do list this spring!

When we moved into #HomeSweetSitton two and a half years ago, we brought all our old bedroom furniture. It fit fine and I was pretty happy with it. Considering we had almost a half empty house, our master bedroom was the least of my concerns! Fast forward a little bit, we have an office turning into a nursery and a guest room with RJ’s college furniture and well, I thought it made the most sense to move our current furniture upstairs and finally have my dream modern farmhouse master bedroom makeover!
As always, I turn to Pinterest for a little Inspo and brain organization. I scroll through and find aspects or even whole rooms that I love. I’ll get a good idea of what we need, what we can repurpose and where to purchase everything. See a few of my inspo photos below. For our modern farmhouse master bedroom makeover I wanted something clean, simple and cozy. Something that will be timeless and an oasis for the long nights that I think will be greeting us in August.
In addition to gathering different inspo and ideas, I also made a list of some things we needed to do to the room. I want to paint the walls white, including the tray ceiling and also switch out our fan for something more simple and clean. I also wanted to add a rocker or glider in our room since we plan on letting the baby sleep downstairs for at least 6 weeks and I won’t want to go upstairs to rock him.
For our modern farmhouse master bedroom makeover, I did keep some elements of our current bedroom! I have no intenion of replacing our bamboo blinds, but do want to swap our curtains for something more clean and neutral. I also am planning on keeping our antique fireplace mantal and basket wall, as long as we are able to have enough storage once the baby arrives. I also don’t plan on doing anything with our dresser, this IKEA baby is getting more than its money’s worth! Our current headboard and sidetables will migrate upstairs to our guest bedroom.
Now that I had some ideas and a plan, I created a design board to see if everything will come together like it does in my head. I seriously LOVE making the collages. I recently one for Foster’s nursery and I can’t wait to share it with you guys soon. See our plans below, find links to everything under the photo and let me know what you think!
