May Bar Cart + 3 Ingredient Skinny Margaritas

Happy May! April flew by in a blink of an eye and I have a feeling May won’t be any different.

I’m so excited to bring out my Summer Bar Cart for so many reasons. First, I don’t really change it month to month in the Summer. The only big holiday is Fourth of July and I don’t have too many USA themed decorations (Shocking, right?!). Also, I tend to use my bar cart so much more in the Summer. In the Fall/Winter, I mainly drink wine and don’t have too many people over. In the Summer, we’re constantly grilling out, having friends over, etc. and trying new cocktails, making cookie dough cones, and more which means this lil’ cutie cart gets used often!

I try to make the Summer cart both functional and fun. I load the top up with drink stirs, cocktail napkins, pineapple glass markers, umbrellas, etc. In the past, I kept our coozies in this gold ice bucket but I emptied it out and put a few of our favorite coozies in a pineapple dish on the bottom shelf.

In addition to fun additions, I also moved some of our nicer wine and champagne glasses to our dish cabinet. This area sees a lot of traffic this time of year and I didn’t want to risk one falling off and shattering.

I’ve said it before but the bar cart is the most fun corner in my house! I love being able to go all out and express different things. It’s so great that I can strip it down and do it all up totally new each month/season/holiday.

One of my favorite places to find pieces for the bar cart is Target’s dollar bin. I am also loving this site for bar accessories. It’s more pricey than the dollar bin but the pieces are neutral and could stay season after season like my polka dot shaker or gold ice bucket. I’ll link some of my neutral favorites below!

With Cinco de Mayo around the corner —like you really need an excuse for a margarita right?!, I thought it would be fun to share my lazy girl, three (or four or five) ingredient skinny margarita. It takes very little effort, is light and delicious and perfect for all your fiestas!

I’m not a huge soda fan. I don’t like carbonation but Fresca is always an exception! I don’t even like sparkling water, but I love Fresca. You could jazz these up a little by muddling some fruit in your glass before pouring in the ingredients. Some muddled strawberries would be delicious!

I N G R E D I E N T S

  • 1 ounce silver Tequila
  • 3 ounces Fresca soda
  • Juice from 1/4 of a lime
  • Kosher salt, for the rim garnish (optional)

D I R E C T I O N S

  • Using a low-ball glass, if you decide to salt the rim, dip the top of your glass in a bowl of water and then into a plate of salt. You may need to kind of turn it on the plate to get a good coating.
  • Once the rim is salted, over crushed ice, add your tequila, Fresca, and fresh lime juice. Give it a quick stir, and you are on your way.
