October has been flying by and I mean flying y’all! In a blink of an eye we are just one week away from Halloween. True to the theme of my life right now, I needed a last minute Halloween costume that was easy and cheap but fun and creative. I thought about stuff that I loved and stuff that I had easy access to- voila this DIY Butterfly + Butterfly Catcher last minute halloween costume was born.
Less than $30, less than 30 minutes- I really couldn’t ask for more! I’m going to break down all the steps below, I hope this costume makes your heart flutter as much as it makes mine!
What you need:
For the butterfly:
1 pair of butterfly wings (I ordered mine off Amazon here, but I saw Target sold them in the kids section)
All black outfit
Fake Butterflys (from Hobby Lobby)
Hot Glue Gun
For the Catcher:
All Tan Outfit (with shirt that you can glue things to)
Hat (that you can glue things to)
Net (We used our neighbors fly fishing net)
- Using your hot glue gun, attach butterflies to your bobby pins, men’s shirt and mens hat. I used 5 packs of butterflies (2 small, 2 medium, 1 large)
- You can see above I did the butterflies two different ways. I did most butterflies flat (bottom photo set) but I did a couple of them on the edge of the bobby pin, just to give a dimensional look when I was putting them in my hair.
- For the butterfly costume: place bobby pins all throughout your hair, scattering the random sizes. You can do as many or as few as you’d like.
It’s so, so easy, I almost feel silly giving y’all instructions! If you try this costume, be sure to share on Instagram so I can repost! Tag me (@RileySitton) and the hashtag #OhYesPlz. If you have any other last minute costumes, please let a girl know! I need one more for an event this weekend. XO
