Holiday Style { PUT A BOW ON IT }

December 7, 2015

/ uncategorized

‘The Best Way to Spread Christmas Cheer is Singing Loud for all to Hear Dressing Fun for all to See.’ Remember that quote from everyone’s favorite Christmas movie? ELF! Ok, ok maybe that’s not exactly what he said but it’s the truth!

Earlier last month I started looking at Christmas outfits (think –Holiday dresses, fun pants, velvet blouses, etc.) & THEY ARE EXPENSIVE. I was getting nervous. I am not great at saving money (shocker, right?) and I was thinking about how I was going to afford everyone’s Christmas presents + look my best for the Holiday Soirées. I have a few sparkly pieces I turn to for every NYE or Vegas Trip and after analyzing my closet I realized, Christmas looks can be accomplished on a budget!

Last week I shared my tips on making a more casual, festive look here. Today I’m going to share my tips for a dressier look + all the details on this outfit!

Even though this outfit looks like it’s all sparkles and bows, it’s actually made up of my two favorite basics and some festive accessories. I pulled this look together with the intentions to wear it during our upcoming trip to NYC. I love the Big Apple at Christmas (OK, I love NYC all the time) but it’s special at Christmas time. It’s fun, energetic and romantic. Last Christmas, Babe & I traveled to NYC just the two of us (his first time in the city!!) and this year we have lots of family going with us. I CAN’T WAIT!

— White Button Down Tunic. I love this tunic so much. I saw the short sleeve version at J.Crew the beginning of Summer and thought about it for months. I eventually talked myself out of it and regretted it for months. When I saw this one in my favorite store, I knew I couldn’t let it pass again. It looks perfect alone or layer and is great for any stage of life (hint, hint: INVESTMENT PIECE!)

—Leather Leggings *On Sale. Another piece I love so much. They are all the comfort of pajamas with the chic, put together look of leggings. If you’re worried about looking too ‘Sandy Grease Lightening’ in leather pants, pair with feminine sweaters, long delicate tops or lots of layers! I am thinking about getting this pair in burgundy or grey for NYC.

–Sequin Top (Old). Almost Identical- Here & Here. I know what you’re thinking, I’m not going to buy a sequin top, I’ll wear it one time and never again. Wrong. This top is perfect to have in your closet for all those occasions you forgot about and can’t find anything to wear. It’s perfect this time of year dressed up or down (I recently wore it with flare jeans *On Sale and delicate layered necklaces).

—Oversized Bow Tie. I saw this bow tie last year and it was sadly sold out. This year when I saw it was back in stock, I grabbed it immediately!! It adds such a fun touch to any button down shirt. I’m going to try it in my hair next. 🙂

—Bow Loafers. First, I need to admit.. I think I’m a shoe-aholic. I seriously catch myself stocking up on so many shoes. I just love them! These are no exception, they are adorable. I knew I could buy them because the price is great and I can also wear them this Spring/Summer with a cute little sundress or denim shorts. (If you’re not a fan of the loafers, I love these bow flats that are under $20)

I think the trick to Holiday style, on a budget is to take your go to pieces and jazz them up with some great accessories! You can mix n’ match for as many Holiday Parties you are attending this year. I hope you have a great Monday and extra coffee!

XO,

Soaking up everyday is easy with this sweet boy. He’s pretty much all smiles as long as the attention is all on him. He really loves eating, babies and Doodle. He’s scooting and already trying to get into everything. Lucky for us, so far he pretty much just goes in circles. His first tooth popped through and he has a little bit of very blonde hair. ⁣

Speaking of being frozen.. supposed to go to Memphis Monday but an ice/snow storm is coming?! So we either have to leave tomorrow or wait 😭 which interferes with the GF fried bologna biscuits I was surprising RJ with Sunday morning. 😂 #HomeSweetSitton
