Fall in Love with Fall

It’s finally my favorite (& birthday) month! I’ve rounded up my easiest ways to fall in love with Fall this month.

In your wardrobe:

I live in the South, which I love, but it tends to stay hot through October. The weather will trick you, you wake up go outside and it’s cold.. you think ‘Fall is finally here and I can wear that adorable sweater I’ve stashed in my closet!’ only to be sweating your booty off in a few hours.

My favorite way to deal with this tricky weather is to pair sweaters and boots with my go-to boyfriend shorts (I swear by these shorts but if you don’t want to buy shorts right now, check out these on sale!) *Tip: To make sure this looks pre-fall and not pre-nightclub make sure your shorts are not too short or too tight.

If you think you’ll get hot wearing the poncho or it’s hot when you leave the house and you think it will cool down throughout the night.. wear a cute white top underneath so you can add & remove the poncho as needed!

–This poncho is from Lord & Taylor last year but I’m linking 3 of my favorites for this season (all under $40!!) and they look adorable with leggings and a sweater once Winter rolls around. Update: I found this exact poncho here!

–I believe in splurging on boots because I wear them so much in Fall/Winter but I understand if you don’t want to! If you decided to splurge, these have a price tag that aren’t as bad as Stuart Weitzman, Tory Burch or Frye and the quality is amazing. They are perfect if you are usually worried about boots being too big on your leg, since they are suede they are very tight at first but stretch to fit your leg exactly. They stay up all day!

In your kitchen:

This time of year is wonderful. It’s packed with family, friends, celebrations and most importantly FALL FOOD. The other day I fell into the Target Trance when I wandered in to purchase a toothbrush. Their Halloween section is my heaven and I spent way to much time & money. I did however come out with the most adorable pumpkin cookie jar! I wanted to distract Babe from my recent purchases so I decided to whip up some Pumpkin Cake Balls!

They were a huge, huge hit and lasted all of 1 day. Luckily they’re super easy and only 5 ingredients! I took the recipe from my mom’s pumpkin spice muffins, aka heaven. You can adapt her recipe into so many different things.. cookies, cakes, cupcakes, cake rolls, you name it.

My mom’s Pumpkin Spice Muffins

1 Box of Spiced Cake Mix

 1 Can of Pumpkin Puree

1. Preheat oven to 325

2. Mix two ingredients until well blended

3. Bake until they look almost done (The trick to moist muffins is to pull out of the oven when they’re almost finished and allow to finish baking in the pan for a few more minutes!)

*These are super healthy. Since there is no eggs or oil added to the mix they come in at 172 calories each!

*You can easily turn these into cupcakes by topping with cream cheese frosting and cinnamon

Pumpkin Spice Cake Balls

1 Box of Spiced Cake Mix

 1 Can of Pumpkin Puree

1 Can of Cream Cheese Frosting

1 Package of Almond Bark (Candy Coating)

1. Follow steps above to bake the cake (I usually just bake put all the batter in a single round cake pan and bake) –Make sure to bake until all the way cooked through unlike the muffins which you want a little moister

2. Dump cake into a bowl and mix with cream cheese frosting. Don’t be afraid to get your hands messy!

3. Roll into balls and place on a baking sheet.

4. Melt candy coating and dip each ball to fully coat. Return to baking sheet.

5. Sprinkle the tops with cinnamon and place in fridge to harden (about 15 minutes)

6. Enjoy!

In your home:

It’s not Fall without adorable decorations! I like to start with a ‘Fall Base’ that I can easily switch and swap with Halloween decorations or Thanksgiving decorations without spending too much money. My favorite stores to purchase cheap decorations are Target, Hobby Lobby and Dollar Tree.

I placed these ‘open frames’ that I found at the thrift store & spray painted above our bar cart. Each season I can print pictures from Walgreens and swap them out in less than 2 minutes. Super easy and cute! I hung up this chalk board so that I can write a season appropriate phrase and purchased a cute, fun print from Hobby Lobby (this “Oh Dear” one was on sale for $7!).

I’ve been updating our living room as well by swapping out Summer candles for Fall fragrances, adding pumpkins, skulls or wooden ‘halloween’ phrases. I’ll post pictures soon but follow on Snapchat (un: RileyBrahm) for a sneak peak! When Thanksgiving rolls around I can leave the Pumpkins out but switch the Monsters out for Turkeys!! Gobble Gobble!
