Doodlebug: Our Mini Goldendoodle + Snickerdoodle Blondies Recipe

November 7, 2016

/ dessertfoodgirl talkuncategorized

Our baby Doodle Bug. She turned three yesterday and I cannot believe she’s been a part of our family for that long now but at the same time I cannot remember life without her. Even though she is a cutie and very photogenic, her personality is really what makes her so, so adorable. I wish every single one of you could come meet her. She is so cuddly, so loving and a total Mama’s girl.

I wanted to take Doodle’s birthday to share answer some of the most common questions I get about Doodle!

What breed is Doodle?

Doodle is a F1 Mini Golden Doodle. Her mom was a Golden Retriever and father was a Miniature Poodle, so she’s 50/50. She has a flat coat like a golden retriever, so she will forever look like a Golden Retriever puppy.

Is she full grown?

She is about 30 pounds full grown. She is very smart and has the personality just like a Golden.

Where did you get her?

We got her from a breeder in Kentucky, this is their site.

How did you pick a Mini Golden Doodle?

If you’ve been following along for a while, you know we also have a huge Golden Retriever. He’s 90 pounds and I swear 70 of those pounds are fur. I would never get rid of Dallas but his hair drives my allergies insane. We have to vacuum almost everyday and constantly wash our sheets. I knew we wanted another dog, but we had to get one that was hypoallergenic since I have horrible asthma and allergies. Doodle is half Golden Retriever, Half Poodle she barely sheds (only like once a year, and it’s barely anything!) and she is hypoallergenic.

Doodle is my best friend. She sleeps next to me every night, just like a little human. She crawls under the covers and then comes back up, so her head is on the pillow but she’s tucked in. She loves to snuggle, which makes me so happy because I’m a snuggler too. She will eat  a n y t h i n g and I mean anything. Her favorite treats are vanilla ice cream and apples, she is adorable when she eats apples because they are so crunchy for her little mouth! She loves to play with Dallas and hates the wind. She gets nervous in the car, but as soon as we turn on our street she gets brave and sticks her little nose out the window. She used to hate to swim but recently she is getting braver, going deeper in the water! She acts just like a little fox! We always say that she might be mixed with a fox instead of a poodle ha! She squeals like them, burrows like them and even looks like one.

A lot of you probably don’t know but we almost lost Doodle earlier this year. She had to have emergency surgery and lost a lot of blood. They didn’t know if she was going to make it but thanks to many prayers and amazing vets, she did! She’s fine now but it was so scary at the time, I think it makes this birthday a little more special because I couldn’t imagine life without my little Doodle.

We always make these Snickerdoodle Blondies for ourselves and joke that it’s Doodle’s favorite dessert. I let her get a few nibbles since there isn’t any chocolate, but they are INCREDIBLE. We recently had one of Babe’s friends in town for the weekend and they ate the whole tray in one day. They’re great by themselves or served hot with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. They would be perfect for any upcoming holiday parties!

Ingredients:1C unsalted butter, softened
1C granulated sugar
1C light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 1/2C all purpose flour

Topping:1/4C granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper. Lightly grease exposed pan and parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl or stand mixer, cream together butter and sugars. Mix in eggs and vanilla, followed by dry ingredients. Mix until smooth and no streaks remain. Lightly grease hands, press mixture into an even layer in prepared baking pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar topping mixture.
3. Bake for 25-30 minutes.
4. Allow blondies to cool before slicing. Store in an airtight container for up to several days.

Soaking up everyday is easy with this sweet boy. He’s pretty much all smiles as long as the attention is all on him. He really loves eating, babies and Doodle. He’s scooting and already trying to get into everything. Lucky for us, so far he pretty much just goes in circles. His first tooth popped through and he has a little bit of very blonde hair. ⁣
