Projects seem to be the norm over here at #HomeSweetSitton (sorry, hubs), and this month is no exception. I’ve never been 100% happy with our dining room. It was sort of a place where things were thrown while moving and then two years later they’re still there. With the holidays around the corner, I decided it’s time to tackle our dining room and make it somewhere I love. Anyway, a trip to Ikea led to the purchase of a bench that led to a makeover of our breakfast nook! Funny how Ikea does that to you (again, sorry hubs). I’m so happy I decided to revamp this space because it makes me SO happy now. Today I’m sharing our Boho Farmhouse Breakfast Nook.

Meet our Boho Farmhouse Breakfast Nook
When we first moved into our home two years ago, I was really into farmhouse style. Or so I thought. We had never truly decorated a whole home before and I just thought that was our style. I started buying farmhouse pieces but realized I was more of an eclectic boho type of girl, while RJ does still lean towards farmhouse. Mixing the two together worked really well for the wood elements in our home, the farmhosue style that naturally comes with living on a mountain in Tennessee and the fact we already spent a good chunk of change on furniture when we first moved.
Slowly but surely, I’ve been replacing older pieces, reselling pieces or adding where spots felt empty to create this space without blowing the budget. I finally felt like it was time to share our Boho Farmhouse Breakfast Nook! When we moved we brought along our table from our old house. It was an antique that RJ already had when we met. I was originally going to stain it, but ultimately decided to paint it. I’m so glad we did because the blue adds a fun pop of color. I decided to take a chance and order these Ghost Chairs. Although it looks cute just those two, I fell in love with these placemats and they were the perfect finishing touch!
Like I mentioned above, the bench was a unexpected purchase but at only $80 I could not pass it up! I love how cozy it makes this corner. It’s the perfect spot to sip my morning coffee. If this cornern didn’t already brighten up my day, I found this Butterfly Linen Scroll Wall Hanging and instantly fell in love. Since I was a little girl, butterflies have held a special place in my heart. I’ve been finding more and more lately, but I’m not complaining!
A few other common questions I get about our Boho Farmhouse Breakfast Nook-
- Our Cowhide Rug has been great! We’ve had no issues with shedding or keeping it clean. It works with both our normal vacuum and iRobot automatic vacuum.
- We LOVE our shades. I think they are more unique than typical blinds + a classic (my parents had bamboo shades growing up). IMO they don’t get as dirty as traditional blinds and I love how they look paired with curtains.
- I actually made our Leather Pillow! I’m going to do an IGTV video this week showing you how, be sure to follow along so you don’t miss it (@RileySitton).
Any other questions? Let me know below! I hope you enjoyed this Boho Farmhouse Breakfast Nook. We picked up these fresh wildflowers at the market this week and now I think I’ll have to keep some all the time, they’re just too gorgeous! XO
