One of the best parts of being at home all the time is all the time we’ve had to devote to our baby boy nursery. The countdown to Foster is getting real, we’re just a few weeks away from the third trimester and we are so excited. We still have a few major things to do in the nursery, like hang wallpaper and the light fixture but most of it is complete! I thought it was the perfect time to share a little update.

Above you can see my Baby Boy Nursery Plans board I created. I love creating these boards whenever working on a room or decor, it really lets me get an idea for my plans and what I want to purchase. I have always imagined an iron crib, so I started there and worked around it.
Next, I found some wallpaper that we could not live without. I really think it’s going to be the star of the show and I wanted to wait to reveal it. When thinking of little Foster, I wanted a room where it felt classic, calm and inspired by some of our favorite places – like this olive tree that reminds us of our favorite place in the world, Italy.
I opted for classic pieces mixed with patterns of a similar color pattern to keep things from getting too busy. We don’t yet have his mattress or bedding, but I plan to keep it very clean and simple. I have purchased a few of the smaller details, like these pillows and cross but I’m waiting to finalize everything once our wallpaper is installed.
I shared two light fixture options on Instagram stories and although a lot of people chose option B, I fell in love with option A and felt it matched our furniture and vibe much more. I will say we’ve had some trouble hanging it but I think that’s more on us and not the light. It’s amazing quality, especially for the price.
Our four most important pieces in my mind were the crib, a chair or rocker, a dresser and the light fixture. I struggled to find the exact rocker I wanted that didn’t cost a fortune and I fell in love with this chair. It is not a rocker, but after talking to my mom, stepmom and best friend with two little ones, who all never used a rocker, I decided to get this one. It’s down feather cushions make it SO comfortable and it’s exactly the look I wanted. It does swivel back and forth, so I can move some but it’s not a true rocker.
A few final details for our baby boy nursery plans – I found acrylic book ledges that I am obsessed with. They will be on the wall with the wallpaper so we can’t hang them yet, but I can’t wait. I also have a few pieces of RJ’s things from his childhood that will be on some white shelves, including a vintage Cowboys pennant flag, his first baseball glove and a pair of his baby shoes. It’s really import that our nursery be somewhere that is both aesthetically pleasing, comfortable and filled with memories- both new and old.
I’d love to hear what you guys think! I am sharing a few photos below and will continue to update you guys. I hope to have it completely finished by the end of May. While we have more of the decorative side completed, there are still a ton of functional items I need to get! I’ll be sure to share those with you all as well.
note: our exact dresser sold out, however this one is very similar! Also, these cribs are out of stock everywhere so if you’re looking for this exact one, don’t wait to pull the trigger!
