At Home with Yes, Please [Our Bedroom Tour]

September 16, 2016

/ interiorsuncategorized

I’ve officially started packing up Summer decor and brought the pumpkins out of hiding. Changing seasons makes me so excited. Not that I necessarily love more one than the other, jk I totally love Fall most, but I love changes and creating a new feeling in our home.

To accompany the Fall foliage around the house, I decided to whip up a batch of Chicken Taco Chili. I was a little rambunctious yesterday morning and decided I didn’t need a recipe, I was basically a Iron Chef in the kitchen and could do anything. Luckily, I some how created a delicious meal that was a hit all around. Once I figure out exactly how I made it, I’ll be sharing my Cheesy Chicken Enchilada Soup on here!

In the meantime, I’ll be sharing all the details on our bedroom which is finally (dare I say it!?) f i n i s h e d .

This is such a miracle for me. I am constantly proclaiming “Babe, we’re SO close to finishing the house. Only 4 more things to do.”. Except those four things were actually large bundles of things grouped into a category like ‘Finish the Living Room’, so it was actually a very deceiving list. In a rare moment of insanity last week, I decided to give the living room a complete make over. I loved how open everything felt but it was very inconvenient. Basically only one chair had a view of the TV and everyone else was uncomfortable and awkward. When I changed everything, we moved a few pieces from the living room to the bedroom and I realized, we were finished! I can’t express how happy I am to be at this point. Sure, I’ll probably move some knick knacks around or hang some new pieces but all in all we’re done. Well, done with the bedroom that is.

Like all the elements in our home and life, I like it to be a mixture of both RJ and I’s style. I tend to lean towards clean, glam, white pieces while RJ loves more masculine, natural wood, farmhouse pieces. I like to think our home reflects a budget version of a modern-glam french farmhouse. Where adjectives may get confusing, hopefully the photos make it easier to understand. Think pieces that are opposite yet cohesive, glam yet rustic, pattern play and cozy.

I try to pull a balance of masculine and feminine pieces, so that both RJ and I feel at home and comfortable in our space. Instead of going with all white furniture or all wood, a mix keeps things both interesting and balanced. While RJ loves animal heads, I am not a fan. I compromised with fun, faux animal heads.

I love mirror furniture but it is very far on the feminine side, I kept the mirrored pieces small. I tied them together by styling with similar pieces, but kept mine girly and light while Babe’s is more masculine and heavy.

If you’re looking to decorate with a man, I spilled all my tips and tricks here. Half of our furniture (like my paisley chair and vanity) is an antique passed down to me, so I’ve had it since I was a little girl but I will link similar options for ya! I hope you’ve enjoyed a peak into our home, I love having you over! I wish I could actually have every single one of you over for girl talk and peanut butter pie (It’s on my mind because I whipped one up yesterday! If you ever need a quick and easy dessert recipe, this pb pie is my all time favorite and everyone devours it.) I’m excited for the weekend to be here, we’re celebrating two of our friends getting married and I’m headed off to Memphis on Sunday for something very exciting. I hope you have a great weekend as well!
