5.20.16 The Friday Fill In

May 20, 2016

/ foodstyleuncategorized

TGIF Babes! I am so happy to have a little girl time with you today. I know I’ve said this a million times but this past month, month and a half has been so busy. I finally, finally feel like I’m coming to a winding down point, not 100% winding down but getting there for sure.

The past couple of weeks for me have been all about some (late) Spring cleaning, working out and eating healthy-ish. The end of April/beginning of May was filled with love, friends and parties but that also means food, cake and alcohol.

I’ve also been hitting some amazing sales lately so I’m sharing all this goodness with y’all today!

Three weeks ago, I snapped my favorite, budget friendly way to keep fresh blooms in our house. It’s one of my favorite tricks. Three weeks later and these arrangements look exactly the same! I run to Publix, any store will do, but they have 3 for $12 & that’s the perfect amount for 4-5 arrangements. I grab any type of small “filler” flower. Nothing like tulips, roses, or anything with petals. You need something that dries up and still looks pretty. Baby’s Breath is one of the best to grab and I also love these small pink buds and the green stem type things —I’m so sorry I do not know the technical terms for these flowers, I will look next time I grab them!

Place them in mason jars, vases or whatever you have lying around. You can break apart the stems and mix the flowers to create arrangements, but don’t add water! Since these last weeks to months, adding water will make the stems moldy. Just keep them dry the entire time!

What are your favorite flower tricks?! I do not have a green thumb at all, so I’m working to get better at planting/growing/arranging flowers.

Like I mentioned above, I am trying to eat healthier this month. I like to avoid the term ‘diet’ because I think it’s misleading. I am never hungry, in fact I eat more than ever I just choose better options. I do avoid dairy. I would say I’m 90% dairy free.. if I’m out to eat I may eat something with milk in it but I usually do not eat cheese at all. We never buy cheese or milk (I put almond milk in my coffee instead of creamer) but I do eat greek yogurt a couple of times a week. There is one thing that I just cannot live without and that is sweets!

I have a serious sweet tooth. My favorite food ever is ice cream, which I usually treat myself to once a week but I needed something the other 6 days. I love Larabars. They are great and healthy but I couldn’t just eat those everyday, so I decided to whip up some ‘cookies’

3 Brown Bananas

1/2 Cup Walnuts

1/2 Cup Shredded Coconut

1/2 Cup Dark Chocolate Chips

Put it all in a food processor or blend and combine until it creates a dough like consistency. Spoon onto a lined cookie sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until edges look brown. Let cool for 5 minutes. Store in a closed container in the fridge!

They’re SO easy and so good. Babe even likes them, which is always a win.

Earlier this week, I mention that I have a beach trip coming up and I’m coveting some serious Summer pieces for my wardrobe. One thing I was needing was a pair of white denim shorts and black denim shorts. These shorts have incredible reviews and are 50% off right now!! I ordered two pairs this morning and group texted my friends, who also ordered pairs. Hurry and grab some before we buy all of them, ha!

Last week, I had to throw away my favorite pair of heels. I’ve had them for 5 years and they went with everything from denim cut offs to a nice LWD. They were broken beyond repair and I was so sad. I was just standing over the trash can holding them for at least five minutes when my dad walked in. Needless to say he thinks I’m insane. I loved them so much, I re-ordered them, they are one of the best shoe-vestments I’ve ever made!

I hope you have a very merry TGIF! It’s currently rainy here, so I think we’re snuggling up for a date night in tonight. Xo,

Let’s Be BFFs

Believes anything and everything can be conquered with a ‘can do, will do’ attitude. Always looking at the glass half full, even if it is a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Life’s better when it’s well lived –so say yes & have fun!

Loves Golden Retrievers, Coronas with Extra Lime, A Messy Kitchen from Cooking Up Something New for Her Husband & the Wheel of Fortune. Eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first little boy this August.

Excuse me while I move into @zennailspachatt 🤩🤩 I wanted a fun manicure but my nails were looking ROUGH. We decided on a nice clean up with two accent nails while they grow a little bit and strengthen up. 👏🏻 I LOVE IT. the smileys are so happy and bring me joy each time I look at my nails. I’ve had quite the nail saga in Chatt (#iykyk 😏) so finding a spot that is worth the money and enjoyable + great results, makes me SO happy. If you haven’t tried Zen yet, I highly recommend checking them out. #ChattanoogaFun #Noogagram #NailsOfInsta ps. Sweater is major free people vibes but under $20! I’ll link in my stories.

Soaking up everyday is easy with this sweet boy. He’s pretty much all smiles as long as the attention is all on him. He really loves eating, babies and Doodle. He’s scooting and already trying to get into everything. Lucky for us, so far he pretty much just goes in circles. His first tooth popped through and he has a little bit of very blonde hair. ⁣

Excited to see what Fosty’s first spring brings. 🌼 #7MonthsOld #FosterSitton
