Can y'all believe it's already time for Fourth of July?! I swear this Summer is flying by. This Summer has been a whirlwind and I wanted to share a few easy ways that you can still feel festive AF.

#BehindTheBlog: The Art of IG- How I Edit, Plan & Post IGs & IG Stories

Thursday, June 28, 2018

Lately, one of my most received DMs is about photos! How I edit, what programs I use, how I plan Instagrams and how I create my Instagram stories. Instead of breaking it down into individual posts (it's a pretty short process!), I created one large guide!

Now that I have the hang of my process, it only takes about 10-20 minutes (depending on how many photos I need for a post) to edit, plan and create my IG story. I'm excited to share this with you guys!

Road Tripping with Kroger

Tuesday, June 26, 2018

One of my favorite parts of Summer are the trips, more specifically road trips! I've been taking road trips with my family since a little girl and now that we have our own family, nothing has changed!

One of my most memorable road trips when I was little was driving from Memphis to Las Vegas. Yes, a THREE day road trip... during an ice storm! I remember 'ice skating' in a parking lot in Oklahoma and soaking in the snowy Grand Canyon. It's funny, I actually remember more about my road trip than I do our actual time in Las Vegas.

Life's about the journey, right?! One thing is for sure, each road trip starts the same way.. with snacks and fuel!

My first mission for road trips is loading up on snacks, healthy-ish snacks that is! I am a serial snacker in the car but don't want to feel gross when we get to our destination. I love running in Kroger to grab snacks. They have a great selection of healthy treats + all my purchases help me earn more fuel points!

A few of my favorite things to grab are
  • Pop Chips, especially a spicy flavor!
  • Jack Links Jerky
  • Planter's Healthy Nut Mix
  • Precut Fruit
  • Peaches
  • Mini Reese's for my chocolate fix 😉
  • Diet Peach Snapple
  • Lots of Bottled Water
After we're stocked up, it's time to fuel up!

We've been fueling up at Kroger for as long as I can remember. When I was young, my mom would almost run out of gas before stopping at a different gas station! Their fuel rewards are insanely great. This Summer they've somehow made their fuel program even more amazing! Download the 2x Fuel Points digital coupon just one time, then earn double fuel points when you shop on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through July 29th!  #YESPLZ! (Some exclusions apply, see website for fuel program terms and conditions.)

Where are you headed this Summer? You have to tell me your favorite road trip snacks, even if they're not healthy-ish! Road trip snacking is one of my favorite things ever.  Don't forget to save up to $1 off a gallon by downloading the coupon here. XO

HELLO SUMMER! A Sunny Chattanooga Guide

Thursday, June 21, 2018

I don't know how this post has been delayed for so long! After multiple Weekender's Guides, you would think I would already give you a tour of my hometown. Somehow, it's just always gotten skipped.

None the less, it's here! I decided to break it down seasonally, because there is just so much goodness to share. Since, today's the FIRST DAY OF SUMMER how appropriate for the Summer guide?! Below I'll map out a little itinerary that would be perfect if your visiting the 423 for the weekend!

If you are from here and have anywhere to add, please add it in the comments below the post! That way visitors can get the most of our gorgeous city.

Friday: Arrive in Chattanooga.
Head to Il Primo for the best Italian in the city. After a warm welcome, pop over to the art district for dessert & coffee at Rembrandt's. Head to the Pedestrian Bridge for a view of our city's gorgeous sunset.

Saturday:
Wake up early and grab coffee from Milk n Honey to go. Walk through North Shore and enjoy your coffee with a view in Coolidge Park. Rent Paddle Boards from L2 Outside & take advantage of the gorgeous river. After working up an appetite, head to Taco Mamacita for fresh Mexican or Edley's BBQ for the best turkey sandwich I've ever had. After lunch, explore the aquarium. If you're up for Happy Hour- great cocktails and great views at Blue Plate!
Rest up for Dinner, then head to Stir. Sit on their huge patio and enjoy the people of Station Street. After Dinner, head to Reagan's Place for some dancing, American Draft for craft beer in a historic Chattanooga Choo Choo Train car or across the street for some delicious Clumpie's Ice Cream!

Sunday:
Sundays are for brunching! Food Works is a little nicer but serves dollar mimosas (tip: they don't tell you on the menu but you can get grapefruit, pineapple or orange juice!) or head to Daily Ration for some of my favorite brunch food in the city. Checkout the Sunday Market in the First Tennessee Pavilion or do a little shopping. A few of my favorites are Warehouse Row, Northshore or Southside. If you love antique stores, be sure to check out Refindery & Merchants on Main. Stick around for a final lunch with a gorgeous view at Scottie's on the River!

Well?! Are you excited for your trip to Chattanooga. It's an incredible city, rich with culture, history and fun. If you're a local, I'd love to hear what you think of my favorite spots. If you have any questions about an upcoming visit, drop them below or find me on Instagram (@RileySitton). XO

Summer Packing Guide

Wednesday, June 20, 2018

Two things scream Summer to me: warm vacations and peaches. Bonus points if something includes both! I have had a pretty jam packed travel schedule these past few months, even though I vowed to 'vacay at home' more this year. What can I say I just like to explore?! What reminds you of Summer?

Today, I'm bringing you my Summer Packing Guide but I like to also think of this as my Closet Basics too. It's kinda like the perfect formula for a closet or suitcase full of adorable, mix'n'match, options.

ps. if you love peaches too, you must try Starbucks Peach White Tea Lemonade, Unsweetened- it's heaven!
Traveling in the summer is a tad easier than winter, the clothes are thinner, lighter and easier to pack- which means you can pack more hah! I still like to follow a little guide line when packing, I start with my favorite summer basics and essentials (think go to denim shorts, favorite white tee and bralettes on bralettes!), next up my swimwear trifecta- something simple and classic, something fun and trendy and something great for getting sun (with sunscreen!). Next, I load up on mix & match tops and bottoms that can work day to night. Finally, I throw in versatile shoes, jewelry and handbags.

The perfect recipe for paradise!

When I am shopping, I like to splurge on shorts. I have a hard time finding ones I love, well scratch that- I HAD a hard time but now I have a few pairs I love so much. One Teaspoon denim shorts (what I'm wearing above) are my holy grail. I've had this pair for a few years but they still look brand new. I am wearing two sizes larger than my normal jean size, but this is almost too big. I would suggest sizing up at least once, they are looser on the leg and longer than your normal size. Even if you don't purchase these exact shorts, I would always suggest spending a little more on your normal shorts. They are the base for so many outfits in the summer and get so much wear!
What help would I be though if I didn't break it down even further for ya?

R O M P E R S  &  D R E S S E S

A C C E S S O R I E S ,   S H O E S ,   &  M O R E

This is the perfect formula for months of outfits! You could mix and match to create new outfits over and over. If you are not the best at mixing and matching, I suggest trying something on but try it a few ways before you give up - tuck it in, half tuck it, add accessories, walk around for a minute. Sometimes you can't be sure right when you put it on and never be afraid of unexpected combos! XO

Easy Grilled Summer Pizzas

Tuesday, June 19, 2018

It's the first official week of Summer and I couldn't be more excited! One of my favorites part of summer is enjoying our back porch, I love spending every possible second out there with RJ and the pups. If I had it my way, I would grill everything we ate!

Lately, our favorite easy, grilled dinner is Naan Bread Pizzas!

Wine-ing with a View in Chattanooga

Monday, June 18, 2018

Happy Monday! We're only a few days away from the official start of Summer and there's only one thing on my mind..

a nice, crisp glass of chilled wine.

Seriously, is there anything better than a warm evening on the patio with your people and your favorite wine? I'll wait... NOPE. In honor of Summer being right around the corner, I'm spilling my five favorite outdoor spots to enjoy a glass (or three, we won't judge 😉) of wine.

Keto, Kinda - the Yes, Plz Way

Thursday, June 14, 2018

I shared a few months ago my journey with PCOS so far and it has been a journey. Like most people who love to self diagnose with WebMD, I also did a lot, lot, lot of Googling after finding out I had PCOS. Googled my medicine, googled every symptom I've ever experienced and googled PCOS about five million and one times.

I did happen to see one thing over and over- Keto.

What is Keto? Its a Low Carb, High Fat, High Protein diet. In the past, I've heard of the Keto diet and thought it was so stupid. What kind of diet tells you that you can't heave beans, chickpeas, FRUIT but instead need to snack on things like meat and cheese?! I was convinced that it wasn't right for me, yet everywhere I turned people with PCOS should eat keto or at least avoid most carbs.

I'm so excited to spill the beans on a huge secret I've been keeping since February! If you know me you know I'm awful, absolutely AWFUL  with secrets, so the fact I've kept it this long is a miracle. BUT without further adieu..

I've been asked to be a Celebrity dancer for Chattanooga's Dare to Dance Fundraiser and Competition!

Total Cake Over- 8 Easy Store Bought Cake Hacks!

Monday, June 4, 2018

If there's one thing I'm known for it's a love of birthdays, especially my love for a great cake. I believe a celebration isn't a celebration without a cake and you can never miss a celebration!

But sometimes life is busy.

Which is why I've coined the term 'Cake Over'. It's like a make over for your favorite cake. It can be done to Walmart Cakes, Whole Food Cakes, basically any cake you have in mind. Much like any great hack, it's easy, cheap and gets the job done.

My favorite cake over is the melted ice cream cake. Guests will literally not believe you when you tell them you made it! It's so easy and has a huge impact. I'll also share a few other cake overs that are even more simple than this ice cream trick.
