Last Minute Christmas {A Lazy Gal's Guide}

Tuesday, December 22, 2015

Quicker than the good wine disappears at Family dinner, Christmas has arrived. It was V E R Y  sneaky this year! I seriously have Christmas shopping left to do and it's Christmas Eve's Eve. Woof. Since I love, love, love to bake it's always my go to for a little treat for neighbors, friends or an extra something special to a present. It's also one of my favorite traditions I share with my mama. This year I couldn't make it home early enough to bake with her, so I started the tradition with Babe!

So I know what you're thinking, how is this lazy gal guide to anything.. baking is a lot of work. You're right, the baking is time consuming (but worth it!!) my quick tip is to bake this super quick, super easy,  ONE ingredient dish for your goodies! Even if you skip the treats all together this makes a super cute gift topped with store bought cupcakes, cookies or candy or perfect for serving your dishes at your family Christmas.

My adorable little helpers!! It is also the two year anniversary of when Doodle came to live with us! :)
You'll need a bag of peppermints for each tray.. you can use red or green. You can line them up on a baking sheet in any pattern or shape. I wanted mine to look 'plate-like' so I placed mine in a cake pan.
It's not Christmas time without some Christmas tunes!! I love our wireless bluetooth speaker from Jam Audio [℅]. It easily moves from room to room and sounds amazing.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 7-10 minutes. Make sure not to over bake or it will melt too much. You can tell when they start to fuse together and is ready! Leave in the pan until it cools completely and it will pop out.
It would make the perfect plate for Santa's cookies!

I've made these 'plates' every Christmas for three years now. I'm obsessed with them! They are so easy and everyone loves them. I wanted to bake some goodies for Babe's family before I left town so we decided on our favorite Buckeyes (Find the recipe at SheDegree.com), super soft chocolate chip cookies & easy pretzel bites (both recipes here).
I hope you have a great Christmas, I'm currently en route to Memphis to celebrate with my family!

XO,

The Best of.. CAPES

Wednesday, December 16, 2015

Capes. Everyone knows a great blazer is a closet staple but blazers can get boring! A cape is the perfect cross between a blazer and a poncho. If you're looking to dress up your go to leggings + tee combo or if you're looking to top off your holiday looks, you've come to the right place.

Hi Babes! There are two types of capes and both are great. First there is a more poncho-y cape.. think flow-y, oversized and casual. Second there is a blazer cape (like above) and it adds structure and a formal vibe to outfits. I like to add capes (either kind!) to multiple outfits. Pair it with flare denim for a funky 70's vibe, pair with leggings and a tee for a casual meets business vibe or add to a fun skirt for a night out.

Holiday Style {MRS. CLAUS}

The countdown is on.. less than two weeks until Christmas!! WHAT. I know each year feels like it flies by, but this year has really slipped away. Today I'm sharing my go-to for Christmas outfits.. classic red and green!

I've had so much fun sharing my holiday looks with you guys and this is one of the last ones before I start with New Years Eve outfits! Can you believe how quickly Christmas is approaching? I seriously can't. I think another reason it doesn't feel like Christmas is due to the weather, it's 70 degrees here!! I ate dinner on the patio last night and wasn't even cold.. so crazy. We leave for NYC this Friday and I don't even know what to pack, the high is 65 degrees! IN DECEMBER?!

One of my favorite things right now is pairing a sweater with a dress. I am loving the flirty, romantic look of a skirt but I honestly don't have that many skirts in my closet. In an attempt to save a little money, I've been throwing all my favorite sweaters over my old summer dresses and it instantly feels glam and put together. Picking a dress, I usually stick to my neutrals --think white, black, brown or grey but this red dress is from an event I hosted last Christmas. I found a skirt very similar (I'll link it below) but you should definitely try a dress + sweater combo!

I hope you have a great, coffee filled Monday! XO,

The Best of.. HOLIDAY SWEATERS

Thursday, December 10, 2015

I am a Holiday type of gal. No matter the occasion, I love to go all out.. decorations, recipes, outfits, you name it. One of my favorite parts of Christmas time is the fun sweaters that accompany it. Holiday sweaters have a bad rap for being 'tacky' but not all are! Don't get me wrong there are definitely some that are perfect for Tacky Christmas parties, but they also are great for any holiday activity.. Christmas movie watching, cookie decorating, shopping or date night!

One of my favorite ways to stand out in a crowd of Christmas sweaters is to switch it up from the usual jeans I always tend to reach for. If you're headed for a night out or date night, try pairing them with leather leggings. I also love pairing mine with a fun skirt- try plaid or tulle! If you really want to make a statement, throw on some sequin leggings!

It's almost Friday, you've almost made it!! And can you believe we're only TWO WEEKS & ONE DAY away from Christmas!! You definitely still have time to order stuff online, but don't think about it for too long! XO,

Festive Fringe

Wednesday, December 9, 2015

Mixing my favorite black and white with a pop of jewel tones and a touch of flirty fringe, this look is perfect for Christmas parties, New Year Eve extravaganza and everything in between. The best part is this look is so budget friendly and those are my favorite words this time of year always.

A couple of weeks ago I hosted an event in Memphis for the Grand Opening of Kendra Scott Saddle Creek. As always, I was on the hunt for a new outfit for the event. I wanted to find something that was inexpensive, yet festive so I could re-wear the pieces for the holiday or maybe repeat the exact outfit all together! I immediately turned to H&M. I've always been a huge fan of their store, the pieces are great for seasonal items especially --The quality isn't top notch, but for a last minute Christmas look, you cannot beat the price.

The event I hosted was during the day, so I went with a more casual look. I paired this top and skirt with my favorite bow loafers and it immediately brought this look from night to day.

'Honey It's Cold Outside' Sweater 4 colors.  I was obsessed with this sweater because it's holiday sweater, not tacky sweater. It's comfortable and it will be cute & casual with jeans or leather leggings. Tomorrow I'll be sharing my break down on all holiday sweaters if you're looking for more!

Fringe Skirt 2 colors, size down. I love fringe anytime of year, Christmas is no exception! The green version of this skirt is gorgeous!! This skirt will definitely be in my suitcase for our upcoming trip to NYC, it's one of my favorites.

Black Over the Knee Boots. These are a closet staple. In the winter I love to pair these with almost every single outfit. These have a heel but they are still so comfortable and easy to walk in. If you don't love a heel but want over the knee, check these out.

Bucket Bag 5 colors. This is one of my all time favorite bags. First, you cannot beat the price, it's under $70 and the most amazing quality. I've had mine a few months and it still looks brand new. Also, it's basically two purses in one (it comes with a removable pouch inside, I've used it for a clutch and a make up bag when traveling).

I also wanted to share this Instagram with you that I posted yesterday, in case you don't have an IG or don't use LiketkIt. I picked up this super, soft sweater from Anthropologie for our upcoming NYC trip. All of Anthro's sale items are an extra 30% off right now with code 'XTRA30', making this sweater 70% off!! I love the shimmer detail on the collar, sleeves and hem.. it adds the perfect touch of sparkle but is appropriate for any age or occasion.

You're halfway through the week, you can do it!! I hope you have a great day, babes!

The Best of.. FUR COATS

Tuesday, December 8, 2015

One of my favorite pieces for Winter is a nice, cozy (faux) fur coat. It's the one accessory that instantly makes you feel like a million bucks without breaking the bank. I've rounded up my favorite fuzzy coats and jackets, perfect to accessorize your holiday outfits, NYE sparkles and Winter blues.

I snagged this fur jacket at Forever 21 last year (see all their fur coats here, all outerwear is currently 50% off or keep reading for my favorite picks from their shop!) for $25. I love, love, love it. I can't even count how many times I've worn it and each time I've received at least one compliment! Pair with the unexpected, casual flare denim & white tee combo for a funky 70's vibe. [*Sale Alert: Both these jeans ($35) & my tee (multiple colors) are on sale!]

Almost every piece listed below is under $100 and/or on sale! Happy Shopping!!
