Honestly, most of these experiences weren’t super pricey. Some of the destinations obviously cost more to get to, but once there most were reasonably priced, or even affordable! In addition to sharing all my bucket list travel experiences, I’m going to rank them from favorite to absolutely unforgettable.
My Ten Favorite Bucket List Travel Experiences:
10.Road Trip Through Big Sur
California
Two of my girlfriends and I traveled to California a few years ago and were planning on spending the entire trip in the LA area. We had a spur of the moment thought of driving up the coast to San Fran, and I’m so glad we did! Road tripping through Big Sur is unforgettable! Just be sure to fill up before hopping on the scenic route – gas on the road was $17 a gallon!
9.Private Cabana
Disney’s Island in the Bahamas
Having many younger siblings means we still experience a lot of Disney things. I’m not complaining because I secretly love being a child at heart. During our Disney Cruise a few years ago, we had a private cabana on the Disney Island. Both breathtakingly beautiful and so much fun, I could have spent a whole vacation right there! Another bucket list travel experience worthy of the list from our cruise? An adult only tasting menu in the Gusteau Room (wine room) aboard the boat.
8.A Night at the Plaza Hotel
New York, New York
Growing up I read and loved Eloise at the Plaza. I was obsessed. The Plaza Hotel is one of the most classic New York hotels and I always dreamt of staying there. A couple of years ago, my stepmom, sisters and I stayed behind after a big family trip and spent a couple of nights there. Not only was it beautiful, but it was also Christmas time making the experience a little more magical. Another highlight of this bucket list travel experience? Ordering the ‘Kevin Sundae’ a tribute to Home Alone 2 when he also stays in the Plaza.
7.Dinner Overlooking the Bellagio Fountains
Las Vegas, Nevada
RJ and I traveled to Las Vegas for our anniversary last year. We love Vegas and had a blast (sharing a full Vegas guide soon). One of the highlights of our trip was dining at Lago in the Bellagio. The Bellagio Fountains are a Vegas must-see, but having a romantic dinner basically inside the fountains? Definitely worthy of being added to our bucket list travel experiences.
6.Weekend at the Beverly Hills Hotel
Los Angeles, California
Speaking of iconic hotels, the west coast doesn’t get much more iconic than the Beverly Hills Hotel. This historic, chic, ADORABLE spot has hosted many celebrities throughout history. My stepmom and I stayed here a couple years ago and it was a dream! Breakfast by their famous pool, walking the grounds and surounding neighborhood and sleeping in a piece of history was fun! This is definitely one of the pricier things on my list, but you could do one night here and then move to a cheaper, boutique hotel (we split our time between here and Viceroy Santa Monica!).
5. Enjoying the Trevi Fountain All to Ourselves
Rome, Italy
For our honeymoon, we did a road trip through Italy and ended in Rome. We stayed almost directly across from the Trevi Fountain. Most days, the fountain was very crowded but the last night of our trip we snuck down around 2 am and had the found all to ourselves! It was an incredible way to wrap up our trip and so peaceful.
4.Private Boat Cruise with Whale Watching
Cabo, Mexico
Cabo was a bucket list travel experience all in itself. If you haven’t watched my ‘Cabo’ IG Highlight, you must! One of my favorite things from our trip, was the boat ride where we watched huge whales jump right out of the water. I could live on a boat, it’s one of my favorite things in the world. Celebrating my stepmom’s birthday with some a memorable trip was so much fun.
3.Dinner in the Eiffel Tour
Paris, France
On our first annviersary, RJ surprised me with a trip to Paris! While that was a trip I will never forget, one of our favorite moments was eating our anniversary dinner in the Eiffel Tour! We dined from the deck of the Eiffel Tour, enjoying a three-course meal, champagne and watching the tour sparkle from within. After dinner, we could explore the Eiffel Tour and see Paris from above. Truly unforgetable. Also memorable from our trip? Dining at Versailles with Marie Antoinette’s silverware, a prosecco fueled cruise down the Seine, and falling asleep watching the Eiffel Tour sparkle from our hotel window.
2.Private Dock on a Venice Canal
Venice, Italy
Venice will forever have my heart! It was beautiful, it was romantic, it was so much fun. We only spent 48 hours in this water-y city but it was 48 of the best hours ever! Although I could name quite a few things that could be on this list – a gondola ride through the canals, dinner overlooking Santa Maria della Salute Basilica at Club del Doge – having a private dock at our hotel was one of my favorite things I’ve ever done. It was so beautiful sitting there with champagne, watching the gondolas ride by, listening to their singing that it actually made me tear up. I hope to get to go back and do this again one day.
1.Ziplining through Switzerland
Grindelwald, Switzerland
Switzerland was insanely breathtaking. The entire country made my jaw just drop. The views from our hotel, driving through the mountains, everything. I have a full post about our trip here, but if I had to choose one thing for our bucket list travel experiences, it would definitely be our day at Grindelwald First. The day started by riding a cable car for about 20 minutes up to the top of the mountain. There we ziplined off the mountain! It was such a magical experience, I cried on the zip line. After ziplining, we rented little tricycles and road them down the mountain. If you try anything on this list, I recommend this day the absolute most!
I really don’t share all this to brag, but hopefully to help you choose your next travel destination easier! RJ & I truly love traveling, so we save up for it and take on big trip each Fall. Our next trip is in just about a week, be sure to follow on social to see more (@RileySitton). I can hopefully add our tenth favorite experience soon! What pinch me moments of your own should I add to my travel agenda? If you have any questions, drop them below! XO
